Project Description
Jamison called about his oak kitchen cabinets for his home located in Farmington MN. Jamison is very handy, he customized his kitchen island and also installed the tin ceiling you see in the photo above. He wasnt up for the task of painting his cabinets because he knew the process would be very labor intensive. Jamison was interested in our Oak grain filling service. That service fills about 90% of the oak grain so the texture of the grain is barely visible in some areas. This service includes two additional coats of a high build primer with many many hours of sanding. He was very impressed with how much of the grain we were able to eliminate in addition to the smooth hard finish.
Color Selections
Our color consultant met with Jamison and they decided on the tried and true Benjamin Moore “White Dove” for the main cabinets and accented the island with a color called “Cut Cedar”. He and his wife loved their updated kitchen.

Project Challenges
Filling oak grain is extremely challenging. We never want to over promise and under deliver so we set expectations for 90 percent grain fill. You will see in some of the photos below and in the video above the grain is barely visible. The process to get there is three coats of primer along with many many hours of sanding before top coating. Challenging projects make gratifying projects and this was no exception. The crew was extremely proud when they handed this kitchen back to the homeowner.
